For Healthcare Professionals

Why should I join Therago?

Because it opens the door to the kind of flexible allied health career you’ve always wanted. You can choose your patients, choose your hours, choose whether to offer home visits, after hours appointments or telehealth (or do the lot!).

You can use Therago to supplement your income from your day job or to strike out on your own without the overheads and workload of opening your own clinic.

Therago is allied health for the way we live and work now. It’s allied healthcare redesigned to suit your career aspirations and your patients’ busy lifestyles.

How do I get started with Therago?

We’re so glad that you’re hopping on board.

To start with, you need to register with us as a practitioner using your contact details and AHPRA number. Once you’ve done that, you’ll get a confirmation message. Then you can login to Therago’s practitioner portal to set up your appointment times and confirm your bookings.

How do I download the app?

Just like you’d download any other app. If you’re using an iPad or iPhone, go to the app store and search for Therago. If you’re using an Android device, head to Google play and search for Therago there.

How do I set up my profile?

When you’ve registered with Therago and logged into the practitioner portal, you’ll be able to add your photo and other details to encourage patients to choose you.

Once you’ve subscribed and logged in, you’ll have access to the dashboard where you can upload your availability and consultation prices. Once you have filled in this required information and have been verified by the Therago team, your account will be live and available for bookings.

Do I need an ABN?

Yes and no. You don’t need an ABN to register with Therago.

But you will need to provide your ABN on your invoices and receipts, so we recommend that you apply for an ABN if you don’t already have one.

What insurance cover do I need?

You need professional indemnity and public liability insurance before you see your first patient. We recommend speaking with a member from your professional association if you’d like more information.

Will seeing patients through Therago affect my tax bill?

Possibly. You’ll be making additional income as Therago is the directory site where patients can find you and book your services. We recommend that you see your accountant to discuss your business structure, potential tax bill, and insurances as part of getting started with Therago.

What does Therago charge?

Not much! We charge members a once-off joining fee to support with verification checks and then a small monthly fee of $40. And that’s it.

Members usually recover the costs of joining very quickly.

Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time.

Does Therago take a percentage of my earnings?

No. That’s your money and we don’t touch it. All we charge is the monthly membership fee. You keep full control of every cent you earn.

If you choose to use the credit card payment system available through Therago, there is a processing fee as charged by Pin payments, the third party processing these payments, and this is added onto the consult price.

The payment is received into a holding account then paid to you, usually within 24-48 hours. Alternatively, you can choose to charge patients using bank transfer, cash or other alternative methods.

Can I see how other providers rated this patient before I go to their house?

The Therago team encourages both practitioners and patients to send us feedback. However for the time being, individual ratings will not be available.

Do patients rate me?

No. Patients are not offered the option of rating or reviewing healthcare professionals because that would contravene AHPRA’s advertising guidelines. The Therago team encourages both practitioners and patients to send us feedback.

How do I get paid after a consultation?

That’s for you to decide. There are many possibilities. You could get a hand-held EFTPOS machine and process payments on the spot, you could send out an invoice for payment later, or you could process credit card payments over the phone. Therago does not take bookings through our site, we are a directory website.

How do I get more bookings?

It’s really about matching your services with patients’ needs.

You could offer more services (after hours as well as home visits, for example). You could offer more appointment times, particularly at times that patients are likely to find convenient such as evenings and weekends. And you could offer telehealth, because that extends your reach to all patients using Therago rather than only those in your local area.

We also encourage you to add a picture to your profile. Seeing your face helps build a sense of connection and trust, meaning patients tend to pick providers with a photo over providers without one.

Can I change an appointment?

Once you’ve confirmed an appointment, It’s best not to change it as it may mean the patient chooses to go elsewhere.

If you really do have to change, then contact the patient as soon as possible to offer them an alternate booking. You’ll have been sent their contact details when they booked.

Is data stored securely on Therago?

Yes. Any information you provided is encrypted using the industry standard AES-256 encryption algorithm and stored securely.

Any financial information you have provided (including your bank account details for receiving payments for bookings) is encrypted and stored on Level 1 PCI Compliant systems by Pin Payments (https://pinpayments.com/security).

Should I keep my consultation notes on Therago or on my own system?

Therago is there to connect you with a patient who needs you. It’s not designed to be a practice management system where you can store your clinical notes.

It’s up to you which system you use but you should follow appropriate requirements for handling and storing of clinical documentation.

Why should I use Therago?

Because it's the only booking app that lets you see an allied health professional outside normal business hours, at your place or through telehealth.

Without Therago, you have to wait until your local clinic is open and can slot you into their schedule. If you hurt your back on a Friday evening, you’re in for a very long weekend.

If you use Therago, though, you can potentially see a physiotherapist at your place within just a few hours of hurting yourself.

What is an allied health professional?

Allied health professionals are healthcare professionals with a university degree or postgraduate qualification who are not doctors, dentists or nurses.

Allied health professionals include chiropractors, dietitians, diabetic educators, nutritionists, exercise physiologists, occupational therapists, osteopaths, remedial massage therapists, counsellors, optometrists, osteopaths, physiotherapists, podiatrists, psychologists and speech therapists.

What is telehealth?

Telehealth is healthcare delivered through videoconferencing or a phone call. It’s been around for a while but has expanded rapidly as a response to COVID-19.

Telehealth means you’re not limited to healthcare professionals in your area. You could pick the person you think is best qualified to help you or who takes a treatment approach that you like.

How do I cancel an appointment?

To cancel your appointment, you’ll need to contact the allied health professional you booked with. You’ll have their details in the email that confirmed your booking.

Will I be charged a cancellation fee?

This depends on the practitioner.

Do you vet providers before you let them use Therago?

You deserve high quality care from a trustworthy professional.

When a healthcare professional registers with Therago, they have to provide proof of their registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or their profession’s own regulatory body. These regulation agencies protect the public by setting and enforcing standards that Australian healthcare providers must meet.

That means you can be sure that a healthcare professional registered with Therago is licensed to practice.

What will I be charged?

You’re not charged anything for using Therago. You will be charged for your consultation but that fee is set by your chosen provider and should be made clear to you before your appointment.

Please note that if you choose to use the credit card payment system available through Therago to pay for your consultation, there is a processing fee charged by Pin payments, the third party processing these payments, and this is added onto the consult price.

How do I pay for my consultation?

It is up to the practitioner and patient to select the desired payment method.

Payment methods accepted are listed on the practitioner profile page. These include credit card payments, bank transfers, cash etc. Once completed, the practitioner will be responsible for sending out a receipt.

The allied health professional who treated me was great. Can I leave a positive review?

We’re so happy you had a positive experience and think it’s lovely that you want to show your appreciation.

The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) sets rules about how healthcare professionals can advertise their services. One of those rules bans the use of testimonials (or reviews).

That means Therago doesn’t give you the option of reviewing your allied health provider because we don’t want to get them into trouble (and even a positive review can cause problems for them).

The best way of showing your appreciation is contacting Therago and providing feedback on your practitioner.

I wasn’t satisfied with my treatment. Can I leave a negative review or make a complaint?

We’re sorry to hear that. Please contact Therago team with your feedback. The Therago team will then deal with each issue on a case-by-case basis.
